Anambra Traffic Management Agency moves to Decongest Onitsha and Environs

Having successfully relocated Keke tricycle riders, petty traders and others to the Unizik Temp-site “bus stand” and sustained the presence of enforcement officials at the junction for about one week now which has ensured the return of sanity and orderliness in the area.

The operation has now gone to Upper-Iweka (Onitsha-Owerri road) to reclaim that trunk previously lost to bus drivers who cause congestion in and around the area by loading and discharging of passengers along the road. The drivers engaged in this in connivance with some wealthy individuals who illegally collect “revenues” on behalf of the state. The impunity must stop.

The Honourable Commissioner for Transport in the State, Sir Uchenna Okafor Wiper has elected to recover grounds formerly lost to illegal park operators (agberos) and sustain the operation across the state.

Drivers (bus, heavy duty and shuttles) and Keke riders who refuse to comply with the new order would have himself to blame as his vehicle would be confiscated and impounded.

The era of impunity on our roads is gone and no less a conduct would be condoned other than the safe and standard practice.
